Help Spread the Word: Ward 2 Education Survey + Student Leadership Opportunity

Dear Neighbors,

πŸ“£ Help Shape My Education Budget Priorities
Mayor Bowser has released her proposed FY26 budget: Read it here.
As your representative on the DC State Board of Education, I want to ensure that budget decisions reflect the real priorities of Ward 2 families, whether you live here or send your child to school here.

πŸ”— Take this short survey to share what matters most to you, and please pass it along to others in your school community.

πŸŽ“ Apply to Join the DCSBOE Student Advisory Committee
Do you know a DC student leader entering 10th - 12th grade? The State Board is now accepting applications for our Student Advisory Committee.

Public, charter, private, and homeschool students are all eligible. Student members help shape policy – yes, they vote! Questions? Email darren.fleischer@dc.gov.

🌈 Celebrate Literacy and Pride This Weekend
The Washington Teachers’ Union will be at the Pride Festival on June 7 and 8, spreading joy and literacy! Stop by their booth to pick up a free book β€” one per child. Last year, they gave out over 1,000 books, and they’re aiming even higher this year.
