Help Spread the Word: Ward 2 Education Survey + Student Leadership Opportunity

Dear Neighbors,

📣 Help Shape My Education Budget Priorities
Mayor Bowser has released her proposed FY26 budget: Read it here.
As your representative on the DC State Board of Education, I want to ensure that budget decisions reflect the real priorities of Ward 2 families, whether you live here or send your child to school here.

🔗 Take this short survey to share what matters most to you, and please pass it along to others in your school community.

🎓 Apply to Join the DCSBOE Student Advisory Committee
Do you know a DC student leader entering 10th - 12th grade? The State Board is now accepting applications for our Student Advisory Committee.

Public, charter, private, and homeschool students are all eligible. Student members help shape policy – yes, they vote! Questions? Email darren.fleischer@dc.gov.

🌈 Celebrate Literacy and Pride This Weekend
The Washington Teachers’ Union will be at the Pride Festival on June 7 and 8, spreading joy and literacy! Stop by their booth to pick up a free book — one per child. Last year, they gave out over 1,000 books, and they’re aiming even higher this year.

🏳️‍🌈 Stead Park Family Festival
Join me and my DCSBOE colleagues at WorldPride DC Family Fun Festival hosted by Friends of Stead Park!
📍 Saturday, June 7 | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM | Stead Park (1625 P Street NW)
